Mothering is 24/7. And every once in a while we need a break. That is how Mommy & Me first started. When I moved to St. Louis from New York, my daughter Mushkie was eight months old. After I unpacked the boxes and settled in, I was looking for activities that we could do together. I wanted to get out of the house and meet other Jewish moms. I wanted to watch my daughter grow and I couldn't wait to see her make friends.
Having been a pre-school teacher in my pre-mommy days, I envisioned a space that would ignite a child’s imagination, where toddlers would be free to explore and learn. This would be a place for sticky hands and all the mess we'd rather not have in our own homes.
After hearing similar things from other moms, we sent out a postcard and formed the first group. It’s been great fun ever since. I’ve met a wonderful group of moms from across the spectrum of our Jewish community. More than a weekly session, it’s become a network of friends. We’ve watched our children grow together. We’ve shared parenting tips and we’ve learned so much from each other.
With the birth of my second child, I became a new mom all over again. Baby brain and cabin fever were the inspiration for the Bagel Babies class. The addition of the Tiny Chefs class allows us to provide Mommy & Me opportunities for newborn through five years of age.
Be sure to check out our photo album, where you can see moms and tots in action at past sessions. Thank you for visiting. And let your mommy friends know about us. All of you are helping me to create a very special place. I look forward to seeing you and your lil ones!
